Seasons are Changing
August

It's time for me to say
good-bye to the Wonderful Westfield and the Delightful Deerfield as my season
has come to an early end on these two first class fisheries. For those of
you staying in the area, by all means continue to fish these rivers, as they
will, without a doubt, be outstanding throughout the fall.
Now it's Hello to Upstate New York's World Class Salmon and Trout Season
that's just days away! I'll be heading to the Pulaski Area on September 6th
with trips starting on the 8th. I have a few prime-time weekdays available
for Sept and Oct, as the weekdays normally fish better due to less fishing
pressure. Most weekends are still available for bookings and I always do
my best to position my clients away from crowds, but be prepared to do some
possible extra walking on the weekends to attain a little peace with allot
of excitement!
With the proper conditions, all of my clients have hooked up salmon, steelhead
or browns while on tour with me and we all can attest to what a thrill it
is to site or blind fly fish for these trophies.
Yes, "Fly Fish" the traditional way, "NO LEAD, NO SLINKIES.
Just a well presented fly tied onto a 7 1/2 to 9' leader looped to an Orvis,
8wt Streamer Stripper Line (mini-sink tip) with a T3 or TLS rod doing all
the work and all orchestrated by you under my watchful eye of experience.
Learning new techniques, as I quietly instruct and critique you in all phases
of the trip. Learning the presentations, to the hook-ups, to the long battles
and to the net or shore, then photos. And, let's not forget the revival and
release of these magnificent monsters from Lake Ontario. Then, we'll catch
our breaths and get right after another line screamer, WOW!!!
After September 6th, e-mails may be difficult for me to personally answer,
so, emails will have an auto response as to how and where to contact me.
Until then, you can reach me at my home office. Looking forward to seeing
you all again and all indications are pointing to another outstanding, how
many photos can we take, my arm is sore, season.
No problem with water
for this year as the reservoir is full and the fall flows of 350 cfs should
resume September 1.

Planning
a trip of a lifetime, then give me a call at to reserve your dates early,
as the 2003 season is just around the corner when rooms and guided dates
fill fast. It's best to reserve your time with me first, then I'll assist
you in lodging
reservations.
Preserve Your Trophy
Carry
a camera and a cloth measuring tape then use the formula, which is fairly
accurate, if you'd like to have the weight, (length X girth X girth / 800
= lb.) and this should give all the info needed for bragging rights without
over stressing the fish. Once you land that trophy fish of a lifetime, it's
your choice to kill and have mounted and no one should condemn you for your
decision to do so. You can also send a good photo and measurements to a
professional taxidermist where they can make a reproduction of the fish that
you released.
Planning on releasing a fish, then handle it as little as possible and return
into the water ASAP! When releasing the fish be sure to be facing it upstream
in slower moving water, this may require some moving of the fish slowly forwards
and back to help the flow of water through its gills, take your time for
proper revival, which can take up to 8-10 minutes. You'll know when the fish
is ready as it will have good balance and will start on it's own to pull
away from your hands.
For more information on this fishery, give me a call and I'll be more
than happy to answer all your questions.
Good luck and have fun.
